Wool is a natural textile fibre and one of the most sought after materials for rug making. Wool rugs are highly durable and perfectly capable of resisting wear and tear of every day use. Wool has a naturally dirt-repelling effect and is easy to keep clean. It is also flame resistant and characteristically retains it’s shape so that the pile of the rug always rises.

Yazd is a provincial capital right in the middle of Iran, used as a caravan route to the East of Iran’s salt desert it produces some lovely carpets. Many of these rugs are very similar to Kerman however although their knot-count is generally lower they tend to be better quality than new Kermans. That is, like-for-like, age-for-age the Yazd rugs of present would be of a higher quality than those made Kerman.
